Jason Seaton

Remote C2C Software Developer / DevOps

Welcome

Hi, I'm a contract Software Developer and DevOps Engineer, specializing in remote work to optimize productivity and maintain laser-focused attention on projects.

As a developer, I work primarily with Microsoft .NET, Xamarin, and Angular to develop cloud enabled web sites, desktop and mobile apps, games, among other ventures.

My journey began during university when I launched my first computer consulting company, CMC, followed by SeatonSoft as an independent consultant, and most recently Appnicity, another software development and services company.

Besides tech, I am also a real estate investor and own and operate a luxury B&B located nestled in picturesque Harpers Ferry, WV known as The Blarney Estate.

ABOUT

Originating from Maryland and the DC area, my passion for exploration led me to reside in Denmark for several years, serving as a launchpad for adventures across Europe and beyond.

For hobbies, I enjoy gaming, tinkering with VR / AR and smart home controls, and game programming using various libraries and tools, such as Unity.

Interests

Technology, of all types, although my primary passion is for programming. I am also a huge fan and supporter of NASA, having worked briefly on a contract at NASA Goddard.

My first computer was a TRS-80 II, and I learned programming in BASIC first, then moved on to Pascal and eventually to C, which is still probably my favorite language.

When learning a new platform or framework, I usually port a D&D style fantasy game that I started when I was around 16, writing it initially in BASIC, but over time I have ported it to Pascal, C on Qnix, C++ on OS/2 and WinNT, and most recently C# on Windows/Linux.

The latest iteration is a .NET based version called Lords of Chaos, Sancity's Edge. which is written in C# and also uses Xamarin to support multiple platforms for the game client.

Science, especially astronomy and cosmology and I am a huge fan of the late great Carl Sagan. I also enjoy reading about most history topics, particularly when topics covering how technology and human advancements occur and can be interconnected over time.

Music, is always playing while I am working, typically video game soundtracks, which are not too distracting. I started playing a guitar and piano when I was young, but then switched to drums around the age of 12. My work life got in the way, but I still try to find time to play when I can.
